12 Days of Christmas – Day 1

Ho Ho Ho!!!
Time for some appropriately-themed activities. Over the next twelve days we’ll be counting down Time Lord incarnations and days to The End of Time (or Christmas if you’re otherwise/simultaneously inclined). Also, it’s a countdown to the end of the RTD Years! Regardless of how you may feel about it, it’s an occasion worth marking – and why not with some questions, wishes and the like about the years Eccleston to Tennant? Let’s start things simply shall we?
Question 1: A simple one – what’s your favourite New Series Christmas story?
(In the spirit of inclusiveness let’s allow The Unquiet Dead and Attack of the Graske in there, if you like)

I’ll kick this one off then. The Christmas Invasion, followed by Runaway Bride.

I’d have to plum for the Christmas Invasion as well. It was all new and special, and not the obligatory festive run about these things always threaten to become. I may have had my reservations about the new Doctor after watching, but as introductory stories go, this isn’t a bad first outing.
Second would probably have to go to the ring in Unquiet Dead, I suspect if it was made now it would still no be the priemier Xmas episode as it lacks the manditory “event factor” to it, which in my book actually works in it’s favour.

I like the Runaway Bride! Christmas Invasion suffers from the Doctor… not being in it all that much. Voyage of the Danged is all right, but I liked it better when it was called the Poseidon Adventure. The Next Doctor I enjoyed, but that was mostly because I was inebriated – rewatched, it tends to fall apart…

Let’s see… Attack of the Graske is the shortest…

The Christmas Invasion was the first and best!
Possibly, as Dave says, the novelty factor has a lot to do with this – and we get misty-eyed about it in the same way we do Christmases past (well, some of us, anyway).
Runaway Bride almost makes second place due entirely to the TARDIS/Taxi chase, but I’m giving The Next Doctor the silver due to the compelling premise and honking great robot at the end.
And as for Voyage of the Damned, well, I only wish I had been inebriated…
Great banner image, by the way!

Yes, kudos for the photoshoppery, (although I do wonder where all the festive hyenas have gone :p) although back to the topic at hand, and not wishing to state the obvious – but Feast of Steven anyone?

Feast of Steven begins next year when the new lad takes the reins, Dave!
Cheers everyone for the nice comments about the banner. There are more to come as suggested above – they’ll be Christmassy and not at all mutant. That style’s obviously being saved for Last Return (one Doctor left on that to cover too, you see).

For me, it would have to be The Next Doctor. It’s odd you ask as I was going to start a discussion on the NZDWFC msg board as to what the best special was, but never got around to it. Man, I’m lazy.
