A GOOD REVIEW GOES TO PRESS!
Just in time for a Let’s Bump Adolf screening and after a Zeus Bloggian-length delay, Tachyon TV have finally reviewed A Good Man Goes to War. And it’s a cracker of a review! If you thought this blog’s lemonfest of a gripe (well, one review’s at least) small fare, then this is the review for you. Thought-provoking, and as ever, succinctly argued. And it comes with the Zeus Blog stamp of attention.

10. AMOR VINCENT OMNES
Old Tenner’s been quiet lately, but yon Dave’s new movie, the Fright Night remake is finally out (in which he plays a character originally portrayed by Roddy McDowell while a Planet of the Apes movie is also on release… buh?) There’s an interview with him on Ain’t It Cool News, and DW’s 50th anniversary gets a brief mention. Try to contain your anticipation, mind.

9. CHRIS SLIPS QUITS QUIPS
Well, if you hadn’t already read the extended tweet, it appears the next best thing to verification is now available as to the public reasons the Ninth Doctor had such a short tenure. Odd. I thought we had all that sorted out and on record already? What’s that you say? No! Surely not! Anyway, as ever we hope that 2013 might offer a chance for him to be re-involved in the celebrations in some form, eh?

8. VAULT FACE!
Paul McGann is available for weddings, barmitzvahs, audio plays, conventions and bespoke costume “fittings.” Mean-time, welcome back to the Big Finish fold Daphne Ashbrook and Yee Jee So as UNIT operatives (it says here) in a Companion Chronicle portmanteau Tales From the Vault. Nice idea, though the execution is perhaps a little off, and we know Johnny Morris has scripted better. Still, they seem to be promising more instalments, so here’s hoping! But really, it’s evident that the characters of Grace and Chang Lee are off-limits to anyone but Fox/Universal. We know that they don’t have the rights to make Who now (a decision they thought long and hard about, of course), so why not just relinquish this nonsense and stop being such dicks about the characters investigate the possibility of a spin-off featuring the two?

7. SNAPS TO ATTENTION
Lovely promo shots done a few years back for Sylv’s convetion run have resurfaced and been much commented upon on Gallybelly. No, they’re not an Ian Levine Joint™, but as perhaps the last we’ll publicly see of Sylv as the Doctor before wizarding robes eclipse his previous famous role, it’s quite the boon. And as Gandalf said ten years ago “you haven’t aged a day…”

6. WHAT IF THE NEXT SIXTH DOCTOR MIGHT BE A WOMAN?
I was going to link to somethign about BF reuniting the Sixth Doctor and Peri for their 150th audio release (Recorded Time and Other Stories), but some things simply cannot be igonored. Like, for instance, the culmination of all of JN-T’s media teases realised in cosplay.

5. FEELS… DIFFERENT THIS TIME…
You can tell it’s time for the series to return when GallyBase goes all feral and eats itself. After months of kicking the new equivalent of Nineties Pertwee with the Teens equivalent (the entire decade of the 80s for those of you playing at home), we’ve reached a tipping point. Avert your eyes Paul, ’cause apparently Peter Davison? Not that popular any more!

4. BRING IT ON, TOM
It’s all about the chocolate and burgundy voice of Tom Baker for the next few months again. Not only is Paul Magrs’ third BBC Audio series Serpent Crest on the cusp of release (series opener Tsar Wars‘ cover is a SF record pastiche as any fule kno), but Big Finish are again leakig out the odd tid-bit about their series to come. Two unmade stories from the Hinchcliffe and Williams Era, and six original stories from the usual war horses of the BF roster, plus fresh new faces Nick Briggs and Alan Barnes (have I got that right?) And of course, most excitingly, the return of Geoffrey Beevers as the Master. As it should be, hoorah et cetera.

3. OH, YETH!
But of course before then, it’s the long-awaited release of Day of the Daleks, much pored-over, anticipated, and even a little worried about after the Sony Warehouse fire during recent London riots. Then of course it’s Colony in Space for those of you who are into that sort of thing, and upon its release, the answer to the question to date: What will accompany (probably) The Android Invasion on the forthcoming UNIT box set, and will it be Ambassadors of Death or Invasion of the Dinosaurs?

And if that’s a little light on the Pertwee side of news, cheer yourself instead with who we may have had hosting the Oscars(tm) last year. It says here. Well, he can’t have been any worse than James Franco, could he?

2. THE SOLDIER AND THE CLOWN
Courtesy of new fanzine with the rather fetching title of Fanwnak, here’s Fade Away, a lovely strip dedicated to the Brig and featuring his first meeting with the Doctor, as inspired by Terrance Dicks’ Web of Fear novelisation. Available as seen here on Deviantart, but also in the latest issue.

1. IT’S REIGNING AGAIN
Without doubt the biggest news of the past month with regard to restoring past Who has to be the animation of missing episodes of The Reign of Terror. This is excellent news, it’s important to know, and that’s why I’m telling you so. And it’s even being worked on as close as <Watling>Australia!</Watling> Not sure about the competition to have fans put themselves in the picture. Quite possibly the Venn crossover of Twenty-first century fans and Nineteenth century Parisien likenesses isn’t that large…

What, no vid?
