Thought provoking as ever, although I do wonder how a new Doctor is supposed to typify a new decade when he&#039;s barely been cast and written before it&#039;s even began? But thanks for at least sparing us the infamous Aaronovitch quote about the sixties really being the fifties and 70&#039;s really only being 2 years of misery or some-such bobbins.
As for the fifth Doctor, I recall reading somewhere that his look at least was influenced by the Brideshead Revisited/Chariots of Fire fey and repressed vibe popular in the media at the time, which some have even tried to link to the ensuing Neo-romantic movement.  I don&#039;t know how, either... But were there any substance to this it would certainly make Brave Tristram very much of his time.
As for Colin being the 80&#039;s, well there was the perm, I suppose...
