News highlights of the past month – now with click-along-a-pictureness!

SWIFT KICKING!

Shock and awe for Doctor Who Magazine as lovable Clive Swift from Voyage of the Damned gave an interview that was more Mr Jobel than Mr Copper. DWM, which has recently enjoyed a critical relationship with the new series akin to that of a golden retriever and a group of young children reacted in kind, leading many readers to wonder if they’d ever be able to squee again. Fast Return however applauds this turn of events as a long-overdue opportunity to bring the ‘mongrel’ back into Panini Publishing’s prize Bichon, and awards Mr Swift its inaugural and coveted Spirit of Hartnell Award.

1066 AND WHAT ALL’S THAT?

Why, it’s The Time Meddler, finally growed up and DVD-ised after a couple of years of teasing us all. Okay, it’s restored but not VidFired because the sourced film isn’t up to scratch or something. But you just know that there’s a teeny tiny minority of ‘enthusiasts’ out there who’ll be wetting themselves all the more for it being as close to unadulterated as this. Not for them the crisp lines of high definition -no, slightly out of focus with boom mike shadows and off camera crew tea slurping! That’s the magic of early telly, see.

COMING SOON…

Issue One of the new Torchwood Magazine appeared,
oddly without the free gift we all thought it’d have.

IF IT’S NOT INVOKING ‘DOUGLAS’ IT’S…

Ooh – subtle! Sometime DWM strip writer Dan Abnett pitches for a Series 5 shot in a recent Sinister Dexter from 2000AD (aided by the pictures of Anthony “storyboards for Series One) Williams).
